Data protection policy for the Böllinghaus website

This data protection policy applies to Böllinghaus Steel GmbH (referred to hereinafter as ‘Böllinghaus’). We take the protection
of your personal data very seriously and adhere strictly to the provisions of data protection legislation. In the absence of
explicit consent, personal data is only collected to the extent technically necessary or to service and improve our website; in
no event will such data be sold or passed on to third parties outside the company or its service providers for any reason.

The policy document that follows provides an insight into how we guarantee such protection and indicates which data is
gathered, processed, utilised and (possibly) passed on for which purposes.

Data processing on this website

Your visit to our internet pages will be logged. In the first instance, the following data is generally transferred to us from your

  • The IP address currently used by your PC or router
  • Date and time
  • Browser type and version
  • Your PC operating system
  • The pages you visit
  • Name and size of file(s) requested
  • If applicable, the URL of the referring website

We generally cannot and do not intend to identify individuals.

This data is collected solely for the purposes of data security, to optimise our website and to analyse errors. The data is not
analysed in any other way except for statistical purposes, which will invariably be anonymous. No personal surfing profiles
or similar are compiled or processed. See below for details of the evaluation of this data with Google Analytics.

Contact details

In addition, personal data will only ever be stored when you voluntarily make such a request to us. You may do this using
the contact form or by sending a message to one of the email addresses specified. The purpose of collecting this data will
depend on the message forwarded to us, i.e. the purpose is generally determined by the sender of the message.

You can also use an order form to request informative material that we will supply by post.

The personal data that you disclose on a contact form or order form (e.g. your name, company and contact details such
as address, telephone number, fax number or email address) or share with us in other ways (e.g. via email or by post) will
be used only to correspond with you and will only be processed for the purpose for which you supplied us with such data.

Needless to say, you have the right to object to this use of your data at any time. You will find our contact details under the
heading ‘Responsible authority’ at the end of this data protection policy document.

Service providers

Where we need to engage service providers to undertake and handle processing procedures, contractual relationships
shall be governed by the provisions of the Federal Data Protection Act. In particular, we ensure that in such cases third parties
are obliged to uphold data confidentiality and, in addition, that all ten points of Section 11 of the Federal Data Protection
Act (‘Commissioned collection, processing or use of personal data’) are contractually regulated.

Right to information

In the event that you have provided us with personal data and no longer consent to the storage of your data or the data
is no longer correct, we will, on being advised accordingly, arrange for the deletion or blocking of your data or carry
out the necessary corrections (where applicable legislation allows for this). On request and free of charge, we will provide
you with details of all personal data we have stored. To do this, simply forward an informal notification to ourselves or
Mr. Arndt Halbach, our data protection officer (see below).

Storage of data disclosed

Otherwise, personal data that you disclose to us through our website will only be stored until the purpose for which you
disclosed it is served; thereafter it will be deleted or at least blocked so that no further utilisation is possible. Where retention
periods need to be observed under commercial and tax law, certain data may be stored for as long as 11 years.

Note on external links (‘disclaimer’)

Where this website contains links to other websites, please note that we have no influence whatsoever on the design and
content of linked pages. For this reason we cannot accept liability for any external content. In all cases, the respective
provider or operator is responsible for the content of those pages. At the time the links to them were generated, the linked
pages were examined for unlawful content and no legal infringements were identified. Although such links will be removed
as soon as we become aware of any legal infringement, continuous monitoring of content on external sites is not feasible
without specific indications of a breach of the law. Nonetheless, we are always grateful for relevant information.

Note on the use of Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis tool of Google Inc. (‘Google’). Google Analytics makes use of ‘cookies’,
text files stored on your computer that enable us to analyse usage of our website (see below for more details). Information
on site usage generated by these cookies is generally transferred to a Google server in the USA, where it is stored.
However, a tool is activated on this website which partially disguises your IP address before further use and forwarding,
rendering it anonymous (i.e. removing personal references) so that it is not possible to retrieve the original IP address.

A full IP address will only be transferred to a Google server in the USA (and subsequently abbreviated) in exceptional
circumstances. At the request of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to evaluate your usage of the
site with a view to compiling reports on website activity and providing additional services associated with website and
internet usage to the site operator. Google will not combine the IP address communicated from your browser by means of
Google Analytics with other data.

You may prevent the storage of cookies by changing the relevant setting in your browser software; you may also prevent the
gathering by Google of data on your use of the web site which is generated by the cookie (including your IP address) and
the processing of this data by Google by downloading and installing a browser plug-in available from the following link:

Note on the use of cookies

As mentioned above (see ‘Google Analytics’), internet sites make use of so-called ‘cookies’. Amongst other things, these
are used by our analysis tool (Google Analytics), which we use to improve our web presence continually so that surfing is
as simple and convenient as possible for you.

Cookies are small text files normally stored on the PC of an internet user. If you wish, you may permanently disable the use
of cookies by adjusting the relevant setting in your browser. Please note that where cookies are deactivated, the functions
they enable are lost, which can impair the usage of certain areas of the website.

Remarks on the security and confidentiality of personal data

We guarantee the confidentiality and security of your personal data in that

  • we only use the personal data supplied to us through our website or email communications to fulfil your requests
    or address your concerns
  • our employees are obliged to uphold a duty of confidentiality
  • our security precautions conform to the latest technology to an appropriate extent, and
  • our data security officer is responsible for the definition and observance of data protection regulations.

Please note that since information that you send us via email is not encrypted, any confidential data should only be sent
to us by post.

Note on up-to-dateness

Although we have taken the greatest care to check the information on this website, we cannot guarantee that the content of
our web pages will always be accurate, complete and up to date.

Where we introduce new products and services, change internet procedures or new developments in internet and IT security
technology take place, this data protection policy document must be updated. For this reason we reserve the right to make
amendments and additions to this document as required. Any changes will be published on this site. You should therefore visit
this website regularly to keep abreast of our data protection policy.

Remarks on the data protection officer

Böllinghaus has appointed an external data protection officer, Mr. Arndt Halbach from GINDAT GmbH; he may be

Arndt Halbach at datenschutz(at)
